Troop 31, Scouts and parents...
The younger Scouts need, want, and yearn for leadership from older Scouts. It is important for campcraft, Scouting skills, and
leadership training to come from older boys, not the adult leaders. This will not happen if older Scouts do not come to meetings and miss campouts.
The Patrol Leaders Council's main concern was: If you are not coming to meetings and going on campouts, are you really a Boy
Scout?
Per the PLC's request, and after having discussed it with the Executive Committee, Troop 31 is going to make a change in its
policy.
- In order to receive a rank advancement, a Scout must attend at least 1/3 of the Scout meetings and 1/3 of the
campouts.
Effective Monday, August 28th, we will take roll every Monday night and on every campout.
The first Boards of Review this will apply to will be in December, not the ones coming up in September. Everyone who is
planning on advancing in rank in September will do so if they pass their Board of Review.
The PLC and the Executive Committee feel that all Scouts benefit when all the Scouts are there! It is the best way for older
Scouts to pass knowledge down to younger Scouts. It's also the best way to have fun as a Scout -- by being there!
