Apple Dumplin’ Dessert


(Serves 4-6)

Ingredients:

1 cup Basic Biscuit Mix
1 cup Dried Apples
1/2 cup Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tablespoons Butter (optional)

Trail Information:

Prepare above ingredients ahead of campout. Put into three small bags:

(1) Biscuit Mix
(2) Apples
(3) Spices (sugar, salt, cinnamon)

Trail Directions:

  1. Cover the apples with 2 cups water in a pot and let them soak one hour. Then bring them to a boil and simmer, covered, while you make the dumplin’.
  2. To make dumplin’: add 1/4 cup water to the biscuit mix and form into one piece of dough.
  3. Add the spice mix and 2 tablespoons butter (optional) to the apples. With a spoon spread the dumplin’ dough over the apples. Simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes, until the dumplin’ is done; it will be dry in the middle.
