Mock Shepherd’s Pie


(Serves 3-4)

Ingredients:

1 1/3 cups Basic Ground Beef Mixture
1 cup Freeze-Dried Peas or Other Vegetable (optional)
1 1/3 cups Potato Buds
2 tablespoons Dry Milk
1 tablespoon Butter Buds, or Butter
2 oz. Grated Cheese (optional)

Trail Information:

Time:  15 minutes
Water: Almost 3 1/2 cups
Equipment: 2 pots

Packing of Food:

Put into 3 small bags, then package with the trail directions: (1) meat mix and optional vegetables
(2) Potato Buds, milk and Butter Buds
(3) Optional cheese

Trail Directions:

  1. In one pot, add 1 3/4 cups water to the meat, cover, and bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. In a second pot, boil 1 2/3 cups water. Add the potato mixture and stir vigorously.
  3. Reheat the meat, adding a little water if necessary, and serve over the potatoes with grated cheese on top.
