Troop 31’s Annual Adventure:
Blue Hole!

I. DRIVERS: We are counting on all adults who are signed up, being able to drive and we need to make sure that this is covered. If you are a
listed adult and CANNOT drive for any reason, please tell me right away!! Please make room in your vehicles to carry extra persons and gear.
II. DEPARTURE, GRUBMASTER MONEY, PATROL EQUIPMENT:
-- Meet SATURDAY January 17, 8:00 A.M. sharp at EYC.
-- Each Scout and Adult needs ten (10) $1 bills and one (1) $10 bill for paying the Grubmaster. Please assemble with your Patrol as soon as you get to EYC and get the payments made so your Grubmaster
is not left short.

The Senior Scout or Patrol leader in each Patrol is responsible for seeing that the “Patrol Leader Checklist” is completed and all equipment for your patrol is checked out and packed. If you need a Troop tent, please see your Patrol's Leader or other senior Scout in your Patrol and he can help you.
Persons using a Troop tent should CHECK YOUR OWN tent for enough stakes, proper poles in good repair, fly, etc. BEFORE you leave EYC. It's too late when you arrive at the
campsite and are missing a tent pole, fly or stakes.
-- Each patrol should have at least 1-2 Sawvivors for cutting up firewood, your log puller, newspaper or other firestarters, plus a piece of lightweight plastic sheeting to keep your firewood
dry. This is critical for your warmth and survival.
-- Departure from EYC will be promptly at 9:00 a.m.
III. SATURDAY LUNCH, FOOD AND DRINK RESPONSIBILITIES:
-- Saturday Lunch is a BRING YOUR OWN sack lunch at the Blue Hole campsite.
-- IMPORTANT: AGAIN, each person will be responsible for your own snacks, drinks/water and Saturday lunch. Only Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are provided by your Patrol.
IV. DRIVING DIRECTIONS AND TRIP AGENDAS:
-- Will be distributed at EYC on Saturday morning of departure.
V. FINAL SUGGESTIONS: Please plan and pack accordingly for the cold weather, don't forget your raingear, first aid kit, knife, layered clothing and extra socks.
The hike is about 2 miles each way. Make sure your shoes /boots fit properly, are well-broken in, and are waterproofed. Warm gloves and caps are a MUST on this trip. CHECK THE WEATHER
AGAIN FRIDAY EVENING. UnderArmour or other close-fitting breatheable LONG UNDERWEAR, wool sweater, synthetic fleece layers, and turtleneck or neck warmers, also a toboggan cap will go a long way toward
keeping you safe and comfortable. Most body heat is lost through your neck and head so be equipped to keep them, and your feet, warm and dry.
If you are taking the plunge at Blue Hole, don't forget your towel and extra underwear or old swimsuit you don't mind getting wet.
Don’t let cold or wet weather worry you, at all. Hundreds of T31 Scouts have done this before and they all survived and had a GREAT TIME. You are well prepared and so whatever the weather
is, will not be a problem for you. Check previous messages and “WHAT YOU REALLY NEED FOR BLUE HOLE” lists that have been sent around in recent weeks, and on the website.
