This is a trip for scouts and adult leaders of all paddling abilities to experience whitewater canoeing and kayaking.

Be prepared for changing weather and rain. The Hiwassee can be chilly if you are not dressed properly. Cotton t-shirts are discouraged on the river.

You will need:

  1. Water bottle for the river; a dry sack is recommended for your lunch
  2. Sack lunch while on the river
  3. River clothes: polyprop shirt, nylon or quick-dry shorts. AVOID COTTON
  4. Towel, extra clothes
  5. Money for two fast food meals (Breakfast -- drive thru in Manchester; Dinner -- Shake Shack)

I need to know ASAP if you need a troop kayak or canoe.

Pictures of previous trips to the Hiwassee River are posted in the Scrapbook.
