Camping Hints


Use these tips and tricks to make your next camping trip a success:

    • Don't leave food in the tent
    • Don't fuel fire with gasoline
    • Don't flick cool water on hot lantern
    • Don't leave your tent open or you will get bugs
    • Don't get lost at Blue Hole.
    • Don't forget a ground tarp
    • It's better to have too many clothes than too few
    • Set tent on high ground
    • Collect wood before dark
    • Don't light a fire near a tent
    • Don't pitch your tent near water or it might flood
    • Always bring a pocket knife because you might have to use it
    • Bring socks because if they get wet they will not feel good when hiking
    • For car camping, it's better to overpack than underpack, but for backpacking, it's better to underpack (to a degree)
    • Be prepared for cold weather; pack warm clothes
    • Come prepared for rain and cold
    • Bring first aid kit and bug spray
    • Change socks often
    • Wear layers
    • Gather WAY TOO MUCH firewood (you'll need it)!
    • Gather fire wood before dark
    • Don't pitch your tent at the bottom of a hill; also, don't pitch it in a depression
